Composite Group’s TopBAR glass-fibre-reinforced-polymer (GFRP) reinforcement has been certified under European Technical Assessment ETA 23/0523 (version 01), issued on 20 November 2024.
The assessment is based on EAD 260023-00-0301, the European Assessment Document covering FRP bars as concrete reinforcement. Performance is backed by Certificate of Constancy of Performance 1301-CPR-2408, issued under the Construction Products Regulation (EU) 305/2011 at AVCP system 1+ — the strictest available conformity level. The notified body is TSÚS (No. 1301), the Slovak Building Testing and Research Institute in Bratislava.
The ETA covers reinforcement of load- and non-load-bearing elements of monolithic and precast concrete — beams, columns, panels and slabs — and is intended above all for structures with increased corrosion risk, electromagnetic-protection requirements, or where the concrete will later be cut.
For engineers, the ETA provides a recognised European route to specify GFRP where no national FRP code yet exists.
